Better Together is a brand that I created for my Capstone class and it focuses on green infrastructure in urban environments to lessen the impacts of Combined Sewer Overflows. Combined Sewer Overflows are a result of excess rain water that overwhelm Combined Sewer Systems and exceed the capacity for wastewater. They will then overflow and this wastewater will discharge to nearby streams, rivers, and other water bodies. Greenery can absorb rainwater and reduce the amount of stormwater that gets into our Combined Sewer Systems and lessen the impact. Sedum Humifusum (which is easy to grow) planted on the roofs of Bus Shelters in cities could help absorb the rainwater, filter our air, add visual interest, attract more bus riders, and attract bees.
